I am Iron Man

Hey guys! Toys R Us has new toys from Iron Man 2!

Pretty exciting, yes?

As you can see I went out and bought some of the new toys.

First up is the arc reactor which isn't showing up too well in this picture. It was difficult getting everything to light up at the same time since none of them have the option to just keep there lights lit up. The arc reactor stays on with a bit of round plastic that stays under the shirt and the arc reactor wedges on but not very well. It also glows yellow instead of blue like everything else so I wouldn't recommend it for Halloween this year if you're keen on having an accurate Tony Stark costume.

The helmet is pretty neat with the glowing eyes and as you can see the faceplate pops open like it does in the movie. The only reason I was able to get it on at all was because I didn't put it together all the way. I noticed this afterward and then saw that it wouldn't fit on my head with my glasses on. There are three buttons on the side that activate different sounds. Some are standard explosions and the sounds of repulsor blasts while some are Jarvis telling you to watch out for enemies and those are pretty cool.

Finally there are the repulsors. Those are definitely my favorite. They didn't come together. I bought one then went out to buy the other. They come with gloves that resemble the Iron Man armor and then it comes with a gauntlet that straps around your wrist. It lights up and makes the repulsor noise when you raise your hand up. On the underside of the gauntlet are two small places to shoot out little orange missiles. However, these are made for kids so they may not fit you but I was able to get them on my arm and they're a lot of fun.

While Kevin Smith didn't write Cop Out, there are definitely parts that have the distinct mark of his grubby little mitts all over it, and I mean that in a good way. Any fan of his earlier work can see the tell tale Smith-sonian signs. The movie opens with Tracy Morgan and Bruce Willis arguing about homages to other movies, and thats basically what this is, an homage to buddy cop movies. If you're expecting more than that, well, you're going to be disappointed. But if you want to see Willis and Morgan bickering back and forth, causing destruction, and shooting people, boy are you in for a treat!

Smallville - Zatanna and the JSA

I used to watch Smallville every week up until the end of the fourth season when Lana Lang got to be so awfully passive aggressive that I couldn't stand watching anymore. I thought about going back when I heard she was leaving the show but at the same time I heard there would be no more Lex Luthor either so I didn't bother.

So now two seasons in a row I've tuned back in for two reasons; Zatanna and Geoff Johns. The only two episodes I watched last season were 'Hex' and the episode with the Legion that Geoff Johns wrote and now this season I recorded and watched the Justice Society episode and last week's episode where Zatanna came back. I really liked all of these episodes so now I'm starting to wonder if I should start watching again. Superman has always been my favorite superhero and I really like how the show has turned into Clark and his junior Justice League.

Now that they've gone all out with there being other superheroes in costume and the show's original creators being long gone they don't have any reason to keep around the whole 'no flights, no tights' rule that made sense when it started.

So here's what they need to do:

-Erica Durance as Lois is perfect! I figure the best way to keep going is for Lois to find out about Clark's powers instead of Clark telling her. Lois being Lois, she'll want to write the biggest headline ever but instead comes around and convinces Clark to come out as a superhero. After a lot of hand wringing and talking to Chloe they decide that Clark should be the poster boy for the new age of superheroes and he shouldn't wear a mask so people will trust him. Hence, Clark gets the classes and the whole mild mannered reporter disguise in his regular life.

-I'd like to see more with the Justice Society. They already did a two hour episode of Smallville, so how about a series of TV movies?

Superhero TV movies could be the new serials. I know we haven't said many good things about the old Captain America serial from the forties but, unlike the JSA Smallville episode, they decided to ignore everything about Cap. I would gladly tune in every few months to watch a two hour made for tv movie about Hawkman or Stargirl or any other superhero if it aired on the CW or SyFy.

-Last but certainly not least, more Zatanna please. I guess that's more of a personal request. She's one of my very favorite characters and I'm looking forward to the Paul Dini/Stephane Roux Zatanna series when it comes out in May. How about a spin-off starring Serinda Swan as Zatanna? I would call it 'Zatanna's Magical Mystery Tour' and she would travel America and later the world going from city to city performing magic on stage and the going off to fight crime. I would definitely watch it.

The Super-Batman of Planet X!

NOT AN IMAGINARY STORY!

So I recently read that Batman: The Brave and the Bold will be on hiatus for the next six months which will mean the delay of an episode I've really been looking forward to, "The Super-Batman of Planet X!" but luckily Amazon's video on demand service has it. $2.99 was a small price to pay to see an adaptation of that Silver Age story and this was even better.

First off KEVIN CONROY was the Batman of Zur-En-Arrh. That's right. The villain of the piece Rohtul (spell it backwards) was none other than Clancy Brown and Dana Delaney was seemingly typecast as a meddling reporter who falls for the new superhero in Gothtropolis.

I had a smile on my face throughout this whole episode.

While chasing down some criminals in space with Green Arrow, Batman gets sucked through a wormhole and ends up in Zur-En-Arrh and right away stops a familiar looking crime in progress (guy robbing a couple for the mother's jewelery and threatening to make the kid an orphan?). That's when the Batman of Zur-En-Arrh shows up and enlists Batman's help to stop the mad scientist Rothul after hearing about it from Chancellor Gorzon. While fighting giant robots Batman of Earth discovers he has superpowers and quickly dispatches them.

Batman spends the day essentially being Superman while Tlano goes to work as a reporter, writing headlines about what Batman was up to all day. Later, Rothul figures out Batman's Kryptonite and sends out more giant robots. In the end, Batman and the Batman of Zur-En-Arrh team-up to take down Rothul without any powers and Vilsi (not actually Lois Lane) decides the Batman of Zur-En-Arrh is the Batman for her.

I give this episode 10 Bat-radias out of 10 and would like to see more now please. I really don't want to wait six more months for more of this show.

Also, please make a Batman of Zur-En-Arrh figure. Anybody, DC Direct, Mattell, anybody. I'll buy one right away. Hell, maybe I'll be the Batman of Zur-En-Arrh for Halloween. I just can't get enough of that wacky Tlano.
