"Punishing" Myself With B Quality Fliqs

Outpost

So as I normally do I sat down with a buddy of mine to watch our weekly random movie. This week's beauty was an unknown to me, Outpost. The tagline for this movie was "You can't kill what's already dead". This combined with the fact that
Ray Stevenson was starring in it led me to believe we would be witnessing the punishing of the undead to some degree. This was not the case, in fact I have a hard time listing this movie under "zombie fliqs" at all. Though in appearance they're certainly zombie-ish, it's when they move that they become more comaparable to ghosts. Anyways, Stevenson and a team of mercenaries are hired to go into WWII worn-torn eatsern Europe. They aren't told what they're looking for. They are lead to an old Nazi bunker in the middle of nowhere. Here is where shit goes crazy starting with the find of an old ass machine along with a pile of what appears to be dead Nazis. One of the Nazis raises his hand from the pile sparking the ensuing madness. I will also tell you that yes, the machine and dead Nazis are linked and yes, everyone dies including one EXCELLENT skull crushing scene or was that Punisher War Zone? Anyways, if you love a good gory "B" fliq as well as Nazi "zombies" be my guest...

Mutant Chronicles

This past weekend I sat down to a movie I had heard about a while ago but was just now able to view. This movie goes by the name of The Mutant Chronicles which is based on a series of fantasy card games. It stars Ron Pearlman, Thomas Jane, Devon Aoki who played Miho in Sinla City, as well as a brief appearance from Jon Malkovich. In a nut shell this movie is about a world torn by greed that becomes much worse after a battle smashes apart a gate that was holding back ultimate evil. Behind this gate miles below the surface is a machine that turns humans into leathal brain dead zombies. Pearlman’s character Brother Samuel is part of a religious cult that has fought and trapped this evil before. He gathers a group of people who will be man’s last hope as they venture down to the machine to destroy it. This movie definitely has its problems, the special effects are a bit off as well as the writing. That being said half way into the movie I found myself equally enjoying and dreading it to the point of eager anticipation for the next scene. One silly ass scene that kind of sums up this movie is when Thomas Jane’s character is asked, “What do you believe in?” he replies in all seriousness, “I’m not paid to believe, I’m paid to fuck shit up.” This movie also has the benefit of killing off almost every major character, which I dig but the only problem with that is the one who survives is the one you expected, though he does not get off easy by any means. Since it only lasts about 90 minutes Id suggest this to anybody with a little time to kill and who wouldn’t rather be sleeping.

Keeping with the Punisher theme,
Did you know that Ray Stevenson also voices the Punisher on the show Super Hero Squad, well did ya?
