A great movie about pirates that had absolutely nothing to do with Johnny Depp! (Although it did have 2 actors from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies) From the very begining the movie charms with its unique style of humor, and revels in music and fun that make it stand out amongst anything else at the box office now. Even the more somber parts of the movie are punctuated with flawless wit. It manages to embrace the rebellious rock attitude without taking itself too seriously. Even though Phillip Seymour Hoffman, who gives a great performance, is billed as the lead of the picture, I feel its definitely the cast as a whole that really makes the picture. No one overshadows anyone else, everyone delivers their own touch to the crew of the ship. Fans of the IT Crowd will recognize Chris O'Dowd and Katherine Parkinson, and Nick Frost is great as Dr. Dave. All in all it was just a really fun movie that I look forward to seeing again, if not in theaters than definitely on DVD.
