Human... or something like it

This past Saturday, Being Human returned for its second series on BBC America. I got into the series last summer and a have been waiting anxiously for its return. Needless to say, the series didn't dissappoint. They jumped right into the mix, dealing with the tragic consqequences of last seasons finale and introducing new and terrible villians and character arcs. Annie is enjoying her newfound corporealness, Mitchell is floundering without any new cause to fight for, and George is adjusting to indulging his animal side. If you missed it last summer, and want some new vampire or werewolf fare that doesn't pretty them up, do yourself a favor and check out Being Human on the just released  Series 1 DVDs and Blurays.

Green Lantern & Reynolds Rock Comic-Con

DC also had itself a decent Comic-Con in large part due to the Green Lantern panel. Reynolds was his usual charming self, even giving his Green Lantern ring to one incredibly lucky-ass fan. The panel also included a trailer that was described to be "jaw dropping". Fans on the convention floor were also treated to what could only be the corpse of ex-Green Lantern, Abin Sur (below).

Check out the play by play of the Green Lantern panel here -Comic-Con 2010: Green Lantern Panel

I have also updated a past DRW post in which I posted a fan made pic of what Ryan Reynolds might look like as a Green Lantern. Thanx to Entertainment Weekly we no longer have to ponder that one, check out the official GL pic...

Marvel Brings The Heroic Age To Comic-Con SD

Marvel Studios as pre-usual did not disappoint at this years San Diego Comic-Con. It all kicked off with the panel for Captain America: The First Avenger. This included an appearance by the cast & most importantly a teaser of Cap which included a brief appearance of Chris Evans in full Cap garb. Fans in attendance were also treated to a scene featuring Hugo Weaving as the Red Skull though he was not sporting the Red Skull mask itself.  The following panel was for Thor. It featured almost the entire cast minus Anthony Hopkins as well as the much anticipated Asgardian, Frost Giant, not to mention action packed filled trailer, which according to most reports will silence most of the film’s critics who were not too thrilled with the officially released images of Thor, Odin, & Loki in full costume. Finally, came the not so secret panel for The Avengers panel. It kicked off with a brief teaser which showed The Avenger’s logo while Samuel L Jackson narrated. Jackson them came out to introduce The Avengers cast.  While most of the cast was already known Robert Downey Jr then introduced two new cast members, Jeremy Brenner as Hawkeye & Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner aka The Hulk. Couple that with the fact that Joss Whedon will also be directing along with rumors of a new Punisher movie to come being brought up too, this years Comic-Con lived up to all of the hype & more! Jealous much?

Thor & Captain America To Be In 3D, They'll Make Their Cases In San Diego

The LA Times is reporting that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is planning to release both Thor & Captain America in what will most likely be in unimpressive 3D. They won't be shot in 3D, just overlapped over the original film which saves the studio money which of course also makes them more money off of the ridiculously inflated 3D ticket prices. The one thing fans & moviegoers can almost certainly expect, is a lot of flying hammers & shields which I'm guessing will be the bulk of the use of the 3D. On Saturday the 24th during Comic-Con in San Diego Thor director Kenneth Branagh will try to make his case in defense of his use of 3D. Captain America director Joe Johnston will also appear in San Diego as well. I for one am a skeptical fan who first experienced this "cheap" way of 3D during Tim Burton's reissue into theaters of A Nightmare Before Christmas then of course the more recent debacle Clash of The Titans 3D. I just hope for their sakes the scripts for both movies are the shit. Also, below is the first official Thor image as well as a lo-res image of Jaimie Alexander as Sif.
